This is a very easy, fragrant cake.
The recipe is from the Doubleday Cookbook and doubled the vanilla.
(An excellent all purpose cookbook, I got it when I worked there, before they wisely decided it needed a new cover)
Sift first four ingredients into a large bowl.
Add butter and milk, until blended and then
beat for 1 1/2 minutes. Add egg and vanilla and
beat for another 1 1/2 minutes. Bake 20-30 minutes
depending on your pan. I use and 8 inch round.
